“Volunteer State” seems too strange a nickname for a state, but that is exactly the name by which the state of Tennessee is more popularly known as. This nickname was earned by Tennessee because of the fact that the volunteer soldiers from this region played a role of great importance during the war that took place in the year 1812, which is also known as the War of 1812. But volunteering for the war is not the only point of importance about the state of Tennessee. The personal income per capita in the state of Tennessee was the thirty sixty highest in the country, with the actual figure almost touching thirty thousand dollars, on an average. Cattle, cotton and electric power are the three major forces which propel the economy of this state towards even greater heights. Cotton is mainly cultivated in between the Tennessee and the Mississippi rivers. Major corporations that have their offices in Tennessee are International Paper, AutoZone Incorporated and so on. Transportation is mainly taken care of in this city by the network of roads that include the Interstate highways. The presence of the Nashville International Airport, Memphis International Airport, McGhee Tyson Airport, Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport and Tri-Cities Regional Airport increase the connectivity of the city with the other states.

At the last count taken in the year 2006, it was found that the state of Tennessee had an approximate population of over six million. The majority of its population is concentrated in the Rutherford County region. The increase in population can be attributed to both, natural causes as well as immigration.

Whatever be the reasons behind the population rise, one point that it ensures is a boom in the real estate market.
